FAQs: Homiletics 1 Live Course for College Students
1. Who is eligible to register for the Homiletics 1 live course?
Any student who needs to complete Homiletics 1 may register, regardless of their current enrollment status with the Bible Institute.
2. Can I enroll in the live course if I am currently taking Orientation but haven’t submitted the Chart?
Yes. Students enrolled in Orientation should follow the outlined schedule for submitting assignments. The Chart is a required assignment, and you must score at least 750 points to pass Orientation.
If you register for the live course, it’s recommended to complete and submit the Chart before the course starts. You can finish remaining Orientation assignments while participating in the live course.
3. Can I attend this course as a review if I’ve already completed Homiletics 1?
Yes, students who have successfully completed Homiletics 1 at the College may register as survey participants. Survey students must attend all sessions and complete assignments like other students.
If you earned credit for Homiletics 1 through an equivalent course elsewhere, you must still register and pay for this course to receive credit. Only fully registered (paid) students will receive credit.
4. Do I need to complete Acts 1, Acts 2, and Doctrine before taking the Homiletics 1 live course?
No. You only need to have completed or be currently enrolled in Orientation to register. After completing Homiletics 1, you can proceed with other required courses for certification.
5. Can I apply my PCAFI Scholarship funds to this course?
Yes, if you have remaining scholarship funds, you can apply them to the Homiletics 1 live course.
6. What makes the live course different from the self-paced version?
Self-paced courses use pre-recorded video lessons and textbook excerpts, allowing students to work independently.
The live course provides real-time access to the instructor during class sessions, offering opportunities for interaction with both the instructor and fellow students—an option not available in the self-paced format.
7. When and where will the live classes take place?
Classes will meet every Tuesday starting January 14, 2025. The exact time will be emailed to all registered students by January 10, 2025.
8. How do I register for this course, and is the cost the same as the self-paced version?
Registration for the live and self-paced versions of Homiletics 1 is the same, with a fee of $100. Students opting for the live course will receive a special link to join the sessions, while others will access the self-paced version through Canvas.
9. Is the live course workload more difficult?
The difficulty of the course depends on individual perspectives. However, the live format includes interactive sessions with the instructor and peers, which can make the experience more engaging and potentially less stressful.
